Abstract

The lecture notes “Nanomaterials” are intended to provide students with fundamental knowledge of the structure, classification, properties, production methods, investigation techniques, and practical applications of nanomaterials and nanostructured materials. The course covers the basic principles of nanoscience and nanotechnology, the structural features of nanoscale materials, and the relationship between their microstructure, chemical composition, and physical and mechanical properties. Particular attention is paid to methods for synthesising nanomaterials, including plasma-chemical synthesis, laser-assisted processes, mechanical alloying, severe plastic deformation, and chemical and physical deposition techniques. Modern methods for characterising nanomaterials, including electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and diffraction analysis, are also considered. The lecture notes examine the application of nanomaterials in nanoelectronics, engineering, the automotive industry, nuclear power engineering, and the development of advanced functional and structural materials. The material is intended to support students in developing theoretical knowledge and understanding the potential of nanotechnology for modern materials engineering and industrial applications.
